As the central government is in the process of overhauling the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework, the edible oil industry on Tuesday urged the government to lift restrictions on Input Tax Credit (ITC) imposed from 2022, stating that they are hurting the industry and causing a working capital crunch. The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), in a letter to the Finance Ministry and the Commerce and Industry Ministry, said the edible oil industry pays higher GST rates on input goods and services used in the manufacturing and marketing of edible oils compared with the output GST rate. SEA…

The sport was born in 1898, when a male student at the University of Minnesota spontaneously got up and led the crowd in a cheer for the football team. Men have always been a part of cheerleading; multiple US presidents, including Ronald Reagan, were cheerleaders in college, and male cheerleaders have been a part of the NFL sidelines for decades. So how is it that Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn, the two male cheerleaders added to the Minnesota Vikings’…

Manchester United are not ready to play in Europe and need more time to build a solid base to be competitive in the Champions League, coach Ruben Amorim said on Tuesday. United, who finished 15th in the Premier League last season, missed out on the chance to qualify for Europe’s top club competition when they lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final in May. “I think we were not prepared to play in Europe, that is my feeling. To have strong games in the Champions League and then play Premier League, we need time to develop as a…
Apple sent out invitations on Tuesday for a September 9 event at Apple Park, where the company is expected to debut its latest iPhones alongside other new hardware. The invitation itself offered little hint, with Apple simply saying: Awe dropping. The launch event will be streamed online at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (or 10:30 p.m. IST). Apple is expected to release four new iPhone models, as it has in recent years. August 26 is not a day that is particularly known for feeling especially crisp or autumnal in most parts of North America. And yet it’s the day this year — the earliest release date ever — that Starbucks, contending with a slowdown in sales, will unleash its annual run of pumpkin spice lattes upon its customers. You’d be forgiven for mistaking this tone for one of disdain. Since its inception in 2003, the pumpkin spice latte has become something of a straw man for discussions about capitalism, seasonal creep, and the meaning of “basic,” resulting in widespread hatred for an otherwise…
