A gang of six bike-borne assailants allegedly opened fire at a gram panchayat member in an attempt to kill the latter over an old rivalry on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday, October 26.The victim, identified as Saleem Pasha, 50, was a resident of Islampur and a member of the Kannegowdanahalli gram panchayat. He sustained gunshot injuries on his right arm, following which he was taken to a hospital for treatment. Ahead of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) releasing the new inflation series in February next year based on an updated Consumer Price Index (CPI), it’ll bring out discussion papers and hold conferences to outline the changes and the new methodology, Secretary Saurabh Garg said. In an interview with Siddharth Upasani and Aanchal Magazine, Garg said MoSPI will seek comments from stakeholders on the new CPI methodology, with transparency a key objective.
