A society will be formed by bringing together workers who have received advanced training from the Kerala State Coir Corporation, Coir Minister P. Rajeeve has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating Coir Craft Auditorium, launching the activities of a group of people who completed the corporation’s Coir Artisan Training and handing them over their first order here on Friday.
New coir products
“Arrangements have been made to ensure that these workers get employment throughout the year. The newly formed group has been given an order worth ₹50 lakh. New types of coir products will be introduced in the market, which will help the group secure good income,” Mr. Rajeeve said.
The Minister said that traditional coir workers had been trained in the production of modern coir products. The corporation provided the training with financial assistance from the State government. So far, 300 people have been trained in six batches, and training for the seventh batch is currently under way, he added. P.P. Chitharanjan, MLA, presided.
