Google has been giving a lot of attention to Google Photos, the gallery app that comes pre-installed with the majority of Android phones. Last month, the tech giant was reportedly working on integrating its viral Nano Banana image editor, and now it appears that the app will soon receive an AI-powered meme generator.

According to a recent report by Android Authority, within Google Photos v7.51.0, the publication came across a new option called “Me Meme”, which could be renamed as “Meme me” in the future. As the name suggests, the new feature could allow users to turn images of themselves or their friends into a meme.

The report states that Me Meme may potentially have numerous meme templates, which can be used to create a personalised meme by referencing a photo. The tech giant also suggests that you use a clear selfie of yourself or friends with a clear view of the face. But since the functionality is said to use generative AI, the photo will reportedly need to be backed up on Google Photos first.
The Me Meme Google Photos feature is not live yet, and we currently have no idea how many templates will be supported apart from the “This is fine” meme. Moreover, it is still unclear if users will be able to upload their own templates or will be limited to some preset ones.
Google is also reportedly working on an AI-powered meme generator for Gboard, but the feature is yet to make a public appearance. Last month, the tech giant introduced a new Gemini AI-powered feature that eliminates the need to manually select tools and adjust sliders by enabling users to edit photos using natural language.
