Youth goes missing near Kalyanarevula waterfalls

A 24-year-old youth identified as Yunus of Palamaner town has been reported missing after entering a waterbody near the Kalyanarevula waterfalls, located in a forested area adjoining the Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary. Although the incident occurred on October 15, 2025, efforts by police and forest officials to locate him have remained unsuccessful even after two days.

According to the forest officials, Mr. Yunus, who works at a chicken centre, visited the waterfalls along with his friends. He scaled down a slope to record some reels, however, while negotiating a steep slope, he reportedly lost control and fell into the gushing waters. His friends searched for him but in vain and immediately alerted the police. The police and forest officials deployed expert swimmers to trace the youth. The waterfalls meander through the dense forest before entering the forests of Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the officials blocked the entry at the Kalyanarevula after the incident.
