Apple TV has released the trailer for Mr. Scorsese, a five-part documentary series from director Rebecca Miller that examines the life, career, and creative obsessions of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The series will have its world premiere this Saturday in the Spotlight section of the New York Film Festival, ahead of its October 17 streaming debut.
The docuseries blends never-before-seen archival footage with intimate interviews from Scorsese and some of his closest collaborators. Appearing in the series are longtime screen partners Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Cate Blanchett, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Jay Cocks, and Rodrigo Prieto. Scorsese’s family, including wife Helen Morris and his children, also share personal reflections.
In the trailer, Scorsese reflects on his body of work through the lens of enduring questions of morality. “I struggle with that all the time,” he says of humanity’s capacity for good and evil. His filmography — spanning from Who’s That Knocking at My Door (1967) and Mean Streets to Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street and 2023’s Oscar contender Killers of the Flower Moon — frames the exploration.

“I knew I could express myself with pictures,” Scorsese says in one moment. “But I had to find my own way.”
Produced by Expanded Media and Round Films in association with LBI Entertainment and Moxie Pictures, Mr. Scorsese is executive produced by Miller, Damon Cardasis, Cindy Tolan, Rick Yorn, Christopher Donnelly and Julie Yorn.
The series arrives just as Scorsese prepares his next feature, What Happens at Night, a ghost story starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
