Rishi Kapoor remains one of the most cherished actors in Indian cinema, remembered fondly by fans and colleagues alike. Not only did audiences love him through his films, but his co-stars also held him in high regard. Recently, Rishi Kapoor’s daughter-in-law and actor Alia Bhatt, along with Varun Dhawan, who worked with the late actor in their debut film Student of the Year, recalled their special memories with him on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s show, Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle.

Rishi refused to shoot until Varun Dhawan removed hair gel in SOTY
Varun shared a funny memory of Rishi Kapoor from the sets of Student of the Year. He said, “I remember I had a football sequence with Sidharth Malhotra and Rishi ji had a problem with the amount of gel in our hair. He kept saying, ‘What is this? Your hair don’t move. Come hail or storm, your hair don’t move. You guys are playing football, your hair should move.’”
Varun recalled Rishi Kapoor walking up to him and even touching his hair. He then called director Karan Johar and complained about it. Karan ordered Varun, ‘Move your hair.’ However, Varun explained to Karan that it wasn’t possible, saying, ‘There is gel in my hair.’ Rishi got angry and insisted, “Remove this gel. I won’t do the shot.” Varun remembered, “We didn’t do the next shot until they removed the gel.” The anecdote left everyone on the show laughing out loud.

Alia Bhatt also shared her fond memories of spending time with Rishi Kapoor much before she married Ranbir Kapoor, while shooting for Kapoor & Sons. She said, “I wasn’t dating Ranbir at that time but we (her and Rishi Kapoor) would hang out every evening. He had the most wonderful stories to tell. He would call everybody after shoot to chill and have dinner together. That ambience was very good, I really miss him. Now, whenever people see Raha, they say she is mini Rishi Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. There is some of his energy in her and she depicts that from time to time.”
Twinkle Khanna recalls being called Rishi Kapoor’s illegitimate daughter
The show’s host Twinkle Khanna also recalled a humorous incident involving Rishi Kapoor. She said, “I almost became a Kapoor because of Alia’s father-in-law. On my birthday, he tweeted very generously, ‘Oh you know…when you were in your mother’s stomach, I serenaded her.’ So everybody thought that I was his illegitimate daughter. Then he got trolled and he had to clarify, saying, ‘No, I am so sorry.’”
Kajol, amused, quickly pointed out Alia Bhatt’s uncomfortable expressions, to which Twinkle responded, “I am not your sister-in-law, it was a mistake.” Varun chimed in, saying, “She doesn’t know how to react.” For the unversed, Rishi Kapoor and Twinkle Khanna’s mother, veteran star Dimple Kapadia, made their acting debut together in Raj Kapoor’s 1973 classic Bobby.
