Philippines Earthquake Today: At least 69 people have been killed and more than 150 injured following a powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the coast city of Cebu in in the Philippines’ central Visayas region. The earthquake, that rocked the nation before 10 pm on Tuesday, led to power outages along with the collapse of a few buildings and infrastructure including bridges. This marks as one of the country’s most devastating disasters this year.
Depth of earthquake: Earthquake monitoring agencies had pegged the depth of the quake at around 10 km (6.2 miles) and recorded multiple aftershocks, the strongest having a magnitude of 6.9 Another monitoring agency said there was no tsunami threat following the quake.

Indian embassy condoles death: The Indian Embassy in Philippines condoled the families of those affected by the earthquake. In a post on X, the embassy said, ““The Embassy of India extends its deepest condolences to the people affected by the earthquake in the Cebu province and to the government and people of the Philippines.”
