Rajesh Khanna married Dimple Kapadia, who was half his age, in 1973. But, a few years later, Dimple moved out of the house with their daughters, Twinkle and Rinke. A few years later, Rajesh’s alleged girlfriend Anita Advani moved into his house and the two continued to live together until his passing in 2012. In a new interview, Anita shared some insights into their relationship, and said that they would fight a lot. But whenever she felt deeply offended by any of his statements, she would leave his house. After one such fight, Anita told Rajesh that he could have a “harem” if he wants, and walked out.

In a chat with the YouTube channel Meri Saheli, Anita said that once, Rajesh started praising another woman in front of her, which annoyed her. “I said, ‘Okay then, you be with her’ and I got annoyed. He said, ‘I am just talking about her’ but I was extremely mad. He said, ‘People get married four times, they have so many girlfriends’. So I said, ‘Why girlfriends? You can have a harem. You can do whatever’. We fought a lot and I left,” she said.
Anita recalled that the next day, she was attending an event when Rajesh kept calling her incessantly. “He said, ‘There has been some legal order about Ayodhya and things could get out of control, there could be riots, so you come back to the house now’. I said, ‘Then good riddance of bad rubbish. You have so many people to be with so why are you bothered about me?’ He said, ‘Don’t talk rubbish. If something happens to you, I will burn the world down’,” she recalled.

In the same chat, Anita claimed that she first met Rajesh when he was still single, and a superstar. At the time, she was still in her teens and was enamoured by his charm. While Rajesh and Dimple never divorced, Anita claimed that he married her privately. “We got married privately, but in the film industry, no one talks about such things openly. Everyone says ‘we’re friends’ or ‘we’re in a relationship’ or something else. But it was already reported in the media that I was with him, so neither of us felt the need to go and publicly announce that we were married. We never felt that need,” she said in the same chat.
