KPCC’s walkathon against drug menace held in Kochi

Senior Congress leaders on Saturday accused the Left Democratic Front government of having failed to check drug menace in the State.

All India Congress Committee general secretary K.C. Venugopal, who inaugurated the walkathon organised by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) here on Saturday against the menace, said that the authorities had not been able to plug the network used to sell and distribute drugs.

Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan alleged that the government was aiding the interests of the drug mafia by not taking concrete action against those involved in it. KPCC president Sunny Joseph accused the government of having created a scenario in which even the jail inmates were receiving drugs.

Senior party leaders and representatives of various organisations attended the walkathon that began from the Jawaharlal Nehru international stadium premises and concluded at Marine Drive.
